What BrickSorter keeps about you and why

BrickSorter keeps what it needs to save your sets and progress, and little else. It does not ask for your location or contacts, it shows no adverts, and your data is not sold. The full detail is in the privacy policy.

What is kept, and why

What Why
Your email address and a user ID, if you create an account To sign you in and keep your sets with you
A name, if you type one in Settings or Google passes one on To greet you on Home. Google also passes on a link to your profile picture, which we do not use
Your sets, progress, starred sets, tub letters and pieces marked as missing So you can stop and carry on
A record of each sorting session, and your total sorting time For your summary
Your goal and number of tubs To run the sort your way
A count of the pieces you have sorted The free pieces and anything you buy are measured in it
What your account has bought: the product, the date and the store’s reference So purchases stay with your account
How many tray scans you make each day, and a short record of each scan To apply the limits and keep the scanner working. The record has no picture in it
The pictures you send, with the list of pieces in each, if you choose to help teach the scanner To test and improve the scanner. This is off unless you agree to it
Crash reports and short server logs, which carry your user ID To find and fix faults

Your email address is used to sign you in, to send one welcome email when the account is made, and to send a password reset link if you ask for one.

What is not collected

  • Your location. The app never asks for it.
  • Your contacts, or the photos already on your phone.
  • Advertising identifiers. There are no adverts in the app.
  • Card or bank details. The App Store or Google Play takes any payment.

Guest mode

A guest is asked for no email address, and a name is optional. A guest’s sets are saved on our servers under a random ID that only that device holds.

If a guest signs out or deletes the app, the device can no longer reach those sets, but they are not removed from our servers. To have them removed, create an account from guest mode before you sign out, and then delete that account.

Who else handles it

Your data is stored and processed by service providers that work on our behalf. The privacy policy names them. We do not share your data for advertising.

How long it is kept

For as long as your account exists. You can delete your account, and what is saved to it, at any time. Crash reports are deleted after 90 days, and server logs normally after 30. Pictures you sent to help teach the scanner are kept until you ask us to delete them, or delete your account. See Deleting your account.
